Keeping your beneficiary information current ensures benefits from the retirement system are paid in accordance with your wishes in the event of your death. 

If you are not sure who you elected as your beneficiary(ies), you can view your selection online using the Log In button at the top of any page on our website, or by contacting us. It is important that we have your most current beneficiary information on file.

Pension

If you selected a monthly benefit when you retired that continues to your beneficiary after your death, there are only a few specific circumstances under which you may be able to change that beneficiary and have your new beneficiary receive a monthly pension upon your death.

The Retirement Options Information Charts for each plan are located under Publications > Other Publications (select your plan). In these charts, you can find the circumstances under which you may change your primary beneficiary(ies), and if you can change your form of pension. The notes at the bottom of the page provide detail about special situations that allow you to make such changes.

As a Retiree, you cannot change your Primary pension beneficiary(ies) directly on our website; you will need to send us your changes in writing; however, you may change your Secondary beneficiary(ies) and any GTLI beneficiaries at ers.ga.gov.

GTLI

If you are covered under GTLI, you can update or change your beneficiaries at any time. You can change your beneficiaries online, or complete the Retiree Change of Beneficiary Form found under the Forms section of our website and mail it to ERSGA. 

Peach State Reserves (PSR)

You can review or update your PSR 401(k) or 457 account beneficiaries at gabreeze.ga.gov.
