Protect Yourself from Fraud
Retirees and Retirement Eligible
ERSGA and Peach State Reserves (PSR) take the protection of your
personal data very seriously. We employ numerous security
protocols to keep your personal information safe.
However, if you have been the victim of identity theft, or if you
believe your ERSGA or PSR account has been compromised, please
immediately contact:
ERSGA 404.350.6300
GaBreeze for PSR 1.877.342.7339
It is important that you also take steps to secure your ERSGA and PSR accounts. As technology becomes more complex, keeping up with security advice can be confusing. While the details of how to stay secure may change over time, there are fundamental things you can do to protect your account:
Stay alert: Technology alone will never be
able to fully protect you. The easiest way for attackers to get
access to your ERSGA or PSR account is to
trick you into giving it to them. For example, you
may receive an email asking you to click a link and enter
your ERSGA or PSR account username and password. We will never
send you an email asking for your login credentials. Be
suspicious! By using common sense, you can spot and stop most
attacks. Contact ERSGA, or GaBreeze for PSR, immediately if
you receive a suspicious email.
Passwords: Protect yourself by using a
strong, unique password for your ERSGA and PSR online
accounts.
If you’re tired of complex, hard to remember passwords, try using
a passphrase instead. A passphrase is a series of easy to
remember words, such as “Where is my coffee?”. Longer passphrases
are stronger. If you find it hard to remember passwords or
passphrases, use a password manager, which is a specialized
application that securely stores all your passwords in an
encrypted format.
Updates: Make sure any device connected to
the internet and its apps are using the latest software
versions. The companies who create the software work hard to fix
vulnerabilities by releasing updates. By ensuring you install
these updates (enable automatic updating whenever possible), you
make it much harder for someone to hack you.
Backups: Make sure you are doing regular, restorable backups of any important information on your devices. Most operating systems and mobile devices support automatic backups. Also, store your backups in either the Cloud or an offline storage device to protect them against cyber attackers.
Taking these important steps can help keep your ERSGA and PSR accounts safe from fraud.
